Fast tracking strategy implementation in 2020
“A Good Plan violently executed is better that a Perfect Plan executed next week” - George S Paton
And in the fast-moving world that we live in this has never been truer!
With this in mind we kicked off the first Vantage Leader Forum for 2020 exploring how to successfully implement strategy faster - a topic shown in the latest Mindshop Business Leader report, ‘The Authentic Leader’, of concern to many.
Year after year we see leaders having less time to get more done. With change the new norm, we looked at practical strategies to drive greater implementation success.
Topics and strategies discussed included:
  • Identifying a theme for leaders in 2020 whether it be innovation, growth or agility, and then aligning key leadership attributes to each
  • Getting things done as a leader by being more productive rather than busy - the productivity hacks the group came up with contain some great ideas that are simple to apply
3. Keeping the right people on your team – those you can trust to get things done rather than high performers that may be divisive. We also explored the concept of what makes an ideal team player. The big question for everyone is who needs to be on your team in 2020 to implement strategy faster? 4. And in the final session of the day everyone worked on their number one implementation challenge or opportunity. Starting with assessing the likelihood of change success through the business success change model, the group worked with their peers building on the new insights uncovered during the day
We also took some time to address the risks (and opportunities) that we are facing with COVID-19 – the mindmap captures some innovative ideas and practical approaches. Our number 1 priority is clearly the need to protect our people and organisation now, but we should also look beyond the crisis to ensure we are ready to grow again when we come out the other side.
In each Vantage Leaders Forum workshop, we seek to inject new thinking about leadership high performance. This round, attendees again took the opportunity to discuss day-to-day strategies with peers and left with practical tools to make an immediate difference back in the business.
If you’re interested in joining the next practical, high-value learning workshop on June 16th in Melbourne please contact James at jatkins@vantagestrategy.com.au.
