Ready for growth?
Business leaders looking for growth into the next decade will need to think and act differently. The market in which we all operate has an equal mix of challenges to overcome, and exciting opportunities to unlock. A volatile, and uncertain, economic and political outlook. Heightened customer expectations - given their ability to access information at the click of a mouse. Digital disruption, from new players and nimble competitors alike. And, of course, easy access to technology and platforms by every market player, are just some of the factors that need to be addressed. Add to this the fact that many businesses have quite understandably stripped significant cost out of their operation post GFC. Does this mean that many will, in fact, be too lean to grow?
We need to think differently. We need a different strategic lens to view the future. We need to innovate in how we develop and deliver value for customers, but also enhance employee experience and simplify business models and go to market strategies. This requires a new mindset from business leaders. The core of innovation- adding value through thinking differently and delivering real change – comes from curiosity. Curious about what customers really need is a great place to start. But to do that we need to get out of the bubble we operate in. Are we asking customers the right questions that get to the essence of what they truly need and how you can meet that need? Are we observing how they use your products and services, and how you could make it better? Are we connecting with people – both within and outside of organisations – that think differently to us? Perspectives that can challenge your customer view and business model. That can leverage technology and new ways of working so as to transform your go to market approach. As we head into 2020 this is an important time to step back and think – how will we compete in a fast-changing world that will not only build our resilience, but enhance our ability to truly compete? A challenge for all leaders – and an exciting one too!
