Some questions to consider as we look forward...
Last week, as part of my own professional development, I attended a 3-day conference run by Mindshop. We covered a number of areas, in large focussed on how I can better support my clients . Here's some of what I learnt...
1) Heard from Bernard Salt from the Demographics Group. Always entertaining and stimulating. My big take away is that as a country we are good at 'start ups', not so good at 'scaling up' - growing and creating national champions, like say the US does. To scale up an organisation needs to lean into and connect with core Australian valued drivers of housing, super and lifestyle. These are the growth drivers of society and the economy.
Question - how does your business lean into these values?
2) Andy Lark (ex CMO from Xero amongst other roles) talked about shifts in business models and how they are happening at a faster pace. For him he sees all shifts coming from a mix of Process, People and Technology. And technology is key.
Question - which lever(s) do you need to pull to evolve your business model to be ahead of the wave?
3) Andy also explained how he believes organisations can best connect with customers to better understand their needs to develop better products and services. His approach is to explore their MODs. Moments of Doubt, Desire, and Dissatisfaction.
Question - are you able to access insights around these MODs, and then action them? And finally. The three days I spent listening and learning really reinforced for me the need, in this environment that is uncertain and always shifting, for us to face into the big opportunities and challenges in front of us. We need to stretch and stimulate how we approach growing people and organisations. James AtkinsVantage Strategy
